Weekend Camp at Mellieha (9th - 11th Jan 2009)
In January 2009 the Cub Section has organised a weekend camp at Mellieha Scouts Head Quarters. This was our first activity for our section. The cubs were very eager for this camp since most of them were all new, therefore this was a new adventure for them. During this camp we organised various ac tivities, such as cook out, night hike, crafts and camp fire.
During this camp we organised certain activities to help the cubs achieve their camper badge. The cubs where taught how to pitch and strike a tent, whilst being aware of the hygiene and safety rules.
During this camp the cubs had some time to get to know each other through various activities and also during some free time they had. Each six had to create a song or a stunt for the camp fire, which was the best activity held for the closure of the camp. All cubs had great fun during the camp and it was a beautiful experience which some of them had never experienced. I think that they would give another try for another camp!! :).

Cinema activity for Mosta Cubs At Mosta H.Q
We have decided to organise a relaxed activity for our cubs. Therefore we had an idea of showing a film at our H.Q, while entertain our Cubs with some pop corn and a drink while watching the film ‘Racing Stripes’.
During the intermission of this film the leaders have prepared lunch for cubs, which includes hot dogs and pizza according to the likes and dislikes of our Cubs.
This was the first time that the Cubs Section has organised a film with all these items in our H.Q. It was a great success and all Cubs enjoyed it as well, while it serves as a fundraising for the Cubs Section.

Cub Joint Activity
 The activity consists of a half day in Gozo, precisely in the old walled city of Citadella, where a ‘treasure hunt’ is planned to assist participating cub scouts to look for cultural and historical information using a game base approach.
Aims of the Activity
The three Scout Leaders decided to travel to Gozo and meet cub scouts from the recently formed Xaghra Scout Group. The tri-part activity aims also to give the opportunity to participating scouts to mix with other scouts from different scout groups, outside their village and in this case from a sister island, but always within the age group. This approach tends to assist participating cub scouts to communicate and understand each other well.
The activity went good. It was very useful both for the leaders and for the cubs to known each other and make new friends. This activity was some think new for our Group since it was our first time to hold a joint activity in Gozo.

Weekend Camp at Bahar ic-Caghaq ( 22nd – 24th May)
In May 2009 the Cub section organised weekend camp at Bahar ic-Caghaq premises. The section had organised a father and child camp for the first time. The fathers were eager for this camp, as for most of them it was the first camp. I can say that for the first similar camp, the attendance was satisfactory.
During the camp, children and fathers had the opportunity to know each other. Activities such as obstacle race, canoeing, preparation for campfire and other group work helped to interact. They also did the duties with the children and this helped more to interact both with other fathers and also with their sons or daughters.
Cubs also had the opportunity to achieve naturalists badge during the camp were the fathers also participated in making a chart with different plants, flowers and other related things to nature to create the chart. I can say that it was amazing and all the charts were different from each other.
During the camp there was an amazing atmosphere between them, in fact they found it difficult to leave. After the camp, the fathers were more confident in coming in at the head quarters to pick up their children after the weekly meeting. It was such a beautiful experience both for the fathers and cubs and also for me since it was my first camp that I organised to the full. I think that for sure they will attend in another similar camp like this :):).
